
The Origins of SpotLite
Hiring has always been an inexact science. Both from an employer’s standpoint and a candidate’s perspective, hiring can be a long drawn out process with fruitless results. Song Woo, SpotLite’s Founder and CEO knows firsthand what that’s like having been in the staffing industry for the past two decades. Understanding the challenges and the inefficiencies within the hiring process, Song made it his mission to vastly improve the way this is done.
Looking back at his own early struggles to find employment as a recent college grad, an idea was born. As a naïve recent college grad, thinking that finding employment would be easy, Song quickly learned that it wasn’t so easy after all. He applied to numerous jobs, sending resumes and cover letters to every position that seemed to be a fit. Unfortunately, all that effort didn’t yield a single interview request.
So what exactly was the issue? The requirements for the positions that Song applied to appeared to match his background and resume. Does this sound familiar? The reality is, hiring has a subjective component that is different from employer to employer. The traditional resume isn’t effective at demonstrating key personal attributes that often triggers an employer to give one an opportunity.
SpotLite is the change in the process that both employers and job seekers have been long waiting for. We are effectively providing job seekers with tools to provide employers with more data inputs that will enable hiring managers to make better employment decisions. SpotiLite’s mission is to effectively remove the outdated traditional resume and let job seekers of all walks of life shine bright!
